Does the state of the world make you want to scream?

I feel like I just awoken out of the Matrix or something. How did we allow ourselves to become so blind and why do our leaders allow it? Our oil met its peak in the 70's and has been declining ever since. Fresh water is on the verge of being depleted. Food is hanging in the balance. Our effects on the planet has knocked the environment out of whack. Economies all over the world are collapsing, including our own. Riots and civil unrest are at an all time high. What the heck are we doing?!
