How do I create a simple android app?

I am a graphic designer, and want to get into building android apps, nothing fancy, just simple ones like portfolio apps and mobile optimization.. Problem is I cant find a decent source that will actually teach me how. So if you want to explain it on here thats fine, but Im mainly just looking for someone to point me to a great site thatll teach me..google sucks now a days.
