If you're not planning on showing or registering with a particular breed...you could always go to the animal shelter or rescue league and see if they have a dog that will match your living style and personality. Sometimes at shelters if it's a mutt they might not know what breeds exactly make up the dog but it's a good idea to research the ones that your dog could be so you have an expectation of training and behavior. Only YOU can really pick a dog that's perfect for you. I'm an active person (as are my dogs) and I hike a lot...I have a boxer and a pitbull. Previously I had a lab mix that I adopted from a shelter, he was the best dog I ever had and would never leave my side (rest his soul).
